Great is your faithfulness towards me when you forgave me. Lam 3:21-24
The way I figure it, when God forgives us it’s not necessarily for our own purpose but for His glorification as well. He forgives us in order for us to move forward so we can attain and fulfill OUR purpose, OUR calling, whether that be something major like being CEO or just being a mother raising her children. He forgives us so we can focus and do the work that is set before us.
More importantly, He forgives us because He trust us. The Bible declares great is His faithfulness toward us. This was a light bulb moment for me and freed me instantly from guilt and dwelling on the past. What do I mean?? Simply put, He is faithful toward us in that He believes in us. In you. Simply, You won’t do it again. That’s all. You want do it again. He says I forgive that screw up, that mistake, that over and over again mess of yours now stop it, move forward, and go get what I have for you. For us. In order to fulfill your purpose and glorify My name so all men will be drawn into Me so that they too my come to repentance and be saved; receiving the highest salvation.
The way I see it, He forgives that one night stand, years of hatred toward you in-laws, ex-husband, former boss. He forgives you of not forgiving others, cursing others, gossiping & backbiting, stealing, murdering, having multiple affairs, drinking, abusing drugs, extortion, jealousy, lying, witchcraft, falsehoods, idolatry, greed, laziness, and even atheism. Others affected may not forgive and yes there are and were earthly consequences such as divorce, prison, banishment, job termination but God Can still make your red hot, scarlet sins white as snow. He can still use you. He forgives you and He trust that you will never go back to any of that every again. That’s His faithfulness toward us, toward you that even though you probably deserve to, right then and there, be cast into the uttermost part of Hell. Even though you deserved to drop right dead or be killed, receive the worst retaliation and embarrassment in the mist of your mess, your sin, punishment right here on earth, he is faithfulness even when others don’t take you back. He is faithful to say I forgive you, now deal with your earthly consequences, reap what mess you sowed but let’s move forward. I forgive you, no longer guilty, all gone. I trust you will never do that or anything else like that again. GREAT IS HIS FAITHFULNESS TOWARD ME, ME, WHEN HE FORGAVE ME. What a wonderful God We serve. Thank you Jesus. Now tell me about your God. Are you faithful to Him?
